Bloomin’ Onion A Fair Staple

Eighty vendors at the Muskingum County Fair offer attendees many different food options.

The Bloomin’ Onion, a staple of any County Fair is made with love and care at Bloomers, a company owned by the Hoover family. The onions are prepped, sliced, battered and then deep fried to your liking. Carolyn Burrell, Prep at Bloomers told us more about the delicious flavor.

“The onion is good, its got a nice texture–a crisp taste. [It’s] crunchy. It’s like a potato chip.”

The golden, flower shaped veggie costs only seven dollars at the Muskingum County Fair. If Bloomin’ Onions aren’t your favorite, the stand also sells Onion Rings. Burrell gives us her thoughts on why people love them so much.

“They love to watch to see how it’s, you know, how it’s made.” She explained. “We get a lot [wondering] how the batter is [made], what type of batter we use. Cause they like to go home and try it themselves.”

You can pick up one of the Hoover’s Bloomers on the south side of the fairgrounds at the Muskingum County Fair all this week.
