Blue Devils end two-game skid, top Coshocton

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — After back-to-back losses to Dover and Reynoldsburg, Zanesville got back to their winning ways topping Coshocton 59-47 on Tuesday night.

While the final eight minutes will certainly provide some coaching moments for Scott Aronhalt, the Blue Devils did enough through three quarters to get back into the win column and improve to 8-1 in league play.

Zanesville lead by 12 after the first eight minutes, and added to their advantage in the second quarter, taking a 36-18 lead into the locker room. The Blue Devil’s lead swelled to as many as 23 points in the second-half before Coshocton attempted a late rally lead by Gaven Williams.

Williams lead all scorers on the night with 24 points, and hit three second-half three-pointers, including a four-point play in the fourth quarter, that cut the Zanesville lead to as few as 10 before the final buzzer ultimately cut the Redskins’ comeback attempt short.

Cameron Brooks-Harris lead Zanesville with 23 points on the night. Cobe Curry chipped in 14, and Cory Norris scored 12 for the Blue Devils who sit tied with Meadowbrook for first place in the ECOL.

Both teams are back in action on Friday as Zanesville travels to River View; Coshocton, now 1-8 in league play, will travel to New Philadelphia.
