ZANESVILLE, Ohio – New Philadelphia handled Zanesville on the gridiron Saturday night, 31-0. The Quakers’ offense posted big numbers on the scoreboard, but the biggest number from Sulsberger Stadium is written on a check.

Zanesville will present $1,500 to football official Charlie Linch, who suffered a heart attack during the opening moments of the regularly scheduled game Friday night. Linch was rushed to Genesis Hospital, where he successfully underwent surgery and is currently recovering.

The game was subsequently postponed until Saturday.

The donation was made possible by Zanesville Athletic Boosters, a 50-50 raffle and private donations made during Saturday’s game.

The Blue Devils fell to 1-6 on the season while New Philadelphia improved to 6-1. Zanesville hosts Cambridge next Friday on homecoming.
