Bob Sowards wins Genesis Pro-Am Tournament

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The 37th Annual Genesis Pro-Am Tournament finished up on Sunday at the Zanesville Country Club.

136 golfers teed off Friday morning to start the event, which continued into Saturday, and was capped off Sunday with a Pro-Am in which four amateur golfers are paired with a professional. Players, local businesses, and many others make donations to help make the tournament a success. The proceeds go directly to the Genesis Healthcare Foundation.

Bob Sowards, of Dublin, OH,  and the Director of Instruction at Kinsale Golf Club in Powell, was this year’s winner, and it wasn’t his first time. In fact, he’s won so often that he can’t remember how many time’s he’s won– when asked he said it’s his 5th or 6th year playing, and his 4th or 5th victory. Sowards shot a 5-under 67.

Chase Wilson, who will play in the Memorial Tournament in Dublin this coming season, finished in second with a 69, followed by a trio of 70’s from Tim Krapfel, Gordon Vietmeier, and Bo Hoag.
