Body of Most Wanted Suspect Found in Creek

The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a body in a creek. Sheriff Jeff Paden says it happened Tuesday evening near Byesville Park. The man is identified as 34-year-old Mark Cutlip Jr. of Cambridge. Cutlip was a most wanted suspect in Guernsey County. The Sheriff says he was considered a suspect in an armed robbery and is believed to have entered the flooded creek and drowned after a foot chase by authorities. An autopsy has been ordered at the Licking County Coroner’s Office to determine the official cause of death.

The Sheriff’s Department also released some information from the early morning hours of March 2nd. A Guernsey County sheriff’s deputy reported he was out with a vehicle in which Cutlip was a passenger at the intersection of South Fourth and Main streets in Byesville. An Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper arrived a short time later and Cutlip was ordered from the vehicle at gunpoint. Cutlip allegedly fled from the officers on foot and a foot pursuit was initiated.

The discovery of the body remains under investigation.
