Bomb Scare Turns Out To Be Nothing

Newark Police say the Columbus Bomb Squad was called in to investigate a suspicious object found near the Mount Vernon Road Ramp to State Route 16.

According to a Dispatcher, the Newark Fire Department received the call around 12:30 Tuesday afternoon.

The object was found to be harmless. It was a piece of pipe from a street department truck.

Some area residents who were evacuated were allowed to go home.

Everything now is back to normal.
