Book Store Closure and Major Book Sales at the John McIntire Library
The Friends of the Library Bookstore at the John McIntire Library has long been a place for affordable book shopping, but as of this Saturday, they will be temporarily closed with an upcoming sale to mark the occasion.
The John McIntire Library will soon be undergoing a major remodel that is estimated to be completed in 2026, but there will be some growing pains along the way, like the book store having to temporarily close.
“We’re going to remove all the books and those books are going to be included in a sale that you’re going to hear a little more about later. Instead, what we’re going to do is plan on relocating, with the library remodel, to the upstairs next to where the genealogy section is currently. We’re going to be a little bit more visible but we’ll still be providing the community with a chance to buy wonderful books at a really reasonable price,” said Sally Banfield, president of Friends of the Library.
After the book store closes, there will be a major 2 Buck a Bag Sale on August 24th where you can fill up a Riesbeck’s shopping bag with as many books as you want for $2.
“It’ll be our final one with the book store closing, so it’s important that everybody that’s a friend get out and come in and buy your books and get ready for the summer. We’re going to have this on August the 24th from 10:30 to 2 o’clock. From 10:30 to noon it’s open for the friends of the library. So as a member of the friends of the library you get to have first dibs and come to the sale. Then it’s open to the public until 2 o’clock,” said Beverly Bell, vice president of Friends of the Library.
