Boot Camp Trains New Dads

A special boot camp teaches new dads all about fatherhood.
Forever Dads once again conducted their boot camp for new and expectant fathers today. The program teaches dads things they wouldn’t otherwise learn about what to expect from the new baby and mom.
"The Boot Camp is basically just a place for expecting fathers to come and to kind of learn what to expect during labor and delivery and even after that when you take your baby home. It’s to help answer some questions and get them prepared for what’s to come," said Jesse Rupe, Drill Instructor for the Boot Camp.
Topics covered at the guys-only event included mom’s changes, finances, handling a baby and safety issues. This camp gives opportunities for new dads to get insights from other men on the challenges of becoming a father.
"I kind of liken it to Lamaze that’s something a lot of people take and I think it would be a good thing for a lot of the expectant dads to take this. We’d like to see it become a little more popular," said Rupe.
The boot camp program is free to all Muskingum County dads-to-be through a grant awarded by the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund.
