Bosco Moving Front Paws
Zanesville Police Department Captain Mike Baker says K-9 Officer Bosco is showing some signs of improvement after receiving two gun shot wounds during an August 23rd incident on Indiana Street.
“Bosco used his front paws. He can raised them up, but he needs help pushing them back down, ” says Baker.
Bosco has been able to move his back legs for a couple of days, but Baker says the department wasn’t sure if there would be any permanent paralysis to Bosco’s front legs. Baker says the department expected the worst when it initially heard about the incident.
“He was shot twice at point blank range. It’s hard for me to understand how he’s still alive. I just have to believe that his heart just won’t let him quit. To see that survival instinct in anything, an animal or a person, it just makes you root for them all the more, ” says Baker.
Dominick Conley allegedly shot Bosco and his partner, Patrolman Mike Schiele after Schiele tried to serve Conley a warrant and take Conley into custody.
Baker says Schiele is recovering from a serious but not life-threatening injury at home. He says it could be a while before Schiele returns to duty.
