Brenda K. Gatten

Brenda K Gatten, of New Lexington, went home to sing with the angels the morning of April 17, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Brenda was born on September 27, 1957 to Pearl and Delores Slack in Portsmouth, Ohio. Her mother, Delores preceded her in death in 2008.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Richard D. Gatten; her children, Angela Smith (Dave Sanson), Joshua Gatten, Jennifer Jackson (Joseph) and Amy Parsons (Dan). She was a fun loving grandmother to Marc, Drew, Dontae, Zach, Diamond, Kaylea, Rocko, Brennan, Stone, Ollie, Anya, and Piper. Brenda was loved by her sisters, Becky West (Tim), and Peggy Slack and brothers, Robert Slack (Kim) and Tim Slack (Terri). She is also survived by her Mother-in-Law, Ruth Gatten-Pyle, and several sisters and brothers in law and many nieces and nephews.

Richard is a pastor at The Potter’s House in Zanesville, Ohio and Brenda loved to sing with the worship team. At home, she was often found on her front porch watching and feeding the birds. She loved to visit Amish country, enjoying the crafts and food. Brenda loved to spoil those around her with gifts and love. Her laugh and smile was contagious. Though, we rejoice with the angels in Heaven, she will be greatly missed.

Calling hours will be held 5 to 8PM Thursday, April 20, 2017 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE, OH. Services will be held at 10:30AM Friday, April 21, 2017 in the Snouffer Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Harrop officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
