Brownsville Woman Charged In Standoff
A Brownsville woman is facing disorderly conduct charges after a standoff with Licking County Sheriff Deputies.
It happened around 10:00 Monday night on Main Street in Brownsville.
Captain Dave Starling says deputies were called to Judith Romine’s home on Main Street in Brownsville after her ex-boyfriend told authorities she tried to set fire to curtains in their home.
Captain Starling says Romine was distraught over a break-up in their relationship and when deputies arrived she answered the door with a handgun.
Starling says when the deputies pulled their weapons and told her to drop her gun, she ran back into the house.
After about two hours Romine surrendered to deputies.
She was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital for a mental evaluation then to the Licking County Jail.
No injuries were reported. A deputy responding to the scene hydroplaned and hit a guardrail. That deputy was treated for minor injuries.
