Brush Fire Caused by Power Line

Brush Fire 4

Perry Co-Several fire departments were on the scene of a brush fire in Perry County Sunday afternoon.

It took place around 2:20pm on State Route 37 near Hunter’s Run for a power line that was down with a brush fire.

The Roseville Fire Department reported that when crews arrived they found a tree had fallen into power lines and about half an acre of hillside and woods were on fire.

Officials said 20 mile per hour winds caused the fire to move quickly due to dry vegetation on the ground, becoming a larger fire in minutes.

After about four hours the fire was contained and units were able to hit hot spots, no injuries were reported.

Other departments on scene included Crooksville, New Lexington, Newton Fire, Shawnee Fire, Corning Fire and Somerset. The Ohio Division of Forestry was also called.
