Burn Ban Lifted

The State Fire Marshal has issued an order lifting a ban on open burning that was initially ordered last month.

Fire Marshal Kevin Reardon said while drought conditions persist, the onset of fall temperatures and atmospheric conditions along with recent rains have provided enough moisture to create a reduction in wildfire fuel loads.

However, Ohio law dictates that most outdoor burning is prohibited in unincorporated areas from 6am until 6pm during October and November.

Reardon encourages residents to look at ground conditions where they are at and be careful before starting a fire. He also says to have a water source and tools on hand in case they are needed. Fires should never be left unattended.
