Burnett, O’Neill Lead Foxfire to First Win in School History
ZANESVILLE, OH
History being made Saturday night in Zanesville, as the Foxfire Phoenix take the field for the very first time in school history in the Southern Ohio Independent League as they were hosting Southern Buckeye.
Led by head coach Chad Grandstaff, the Phoenix were raring to go in the first quarter. It didn’t take long for the historic moment to arrive. Xavier Burnett with a screen pass to Braydon O’Neill, he took it in for the first official touchdown in school history. And the defense was absolutely swarming the Warriors in the first half, as both Burnett and O’Neill collapsed on the Warriors running back for a big loss.
A little later on, the Phoenix add to its lead. The handoff goes to Koben Bowen. He races past everyone down the sideline and in, making it 16-0 after the two-point conversion. How about one more to cap off the historic game as Burnett takes it in himself for the touchdown.
The Phoenix wins its opener 52-8 over Southern Buckeye.
