Business Invites all to a Golf Tournament
A local business will give people the opportunity to tee up in late August.
Catholic Social Services is having a golf outing at Fullers Fairways on August 29. Registration that day will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the four man scramble starting at 8:30 a.m.
The regional director, Dave Desender, said the tournament helps raise money for the business’ mission of helping people manage their money.
“We also try to keep them from being exploited too,” he said. “A lot of these people are very vulnerable and it doesn’t take much to have some financial abuse by some people in the community.”
Catholic Social Services started the Payee program over 20 years ago. Now, Desender said, the business has 630 clients. He said the golf outing will be a fun way to help the cause.
“The way it ties together is the regional director here is a golfer,” he said with a laugh. “I thought, what better way to raise money than to do something I enjoy and that’s to golf. I presented it to my advisory board and they kind of ran with it, and it’s been going on ever since.”
Besides the golfing, people can vie for door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and enjoy food from Dooley’s Diner. To participate, teams must pay a $260 entree fee. You can do so by calling Catholic Social Services at (740) 452-5057 Ext. 102.
