Byesville Man Sentenced in Child Exploitation Investigation

GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio–A Byesville man has been sentenced in connection to a child exploitation investigation in Guernsey County.

42-year-old Robert L Schumacher appeared earlier this month before Guernsey County Common Pleas Judge Daniel Padden where he pleaded guilty to three counts of Pandering Sexually-Oriented Matter Involving a Minor or Impaired Person , both felonies of the 2nd degree and four counts of Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor or Impaired Person also felonies of the 2nd degree.

Schumacher received a prison sentence of 28 to 30 years. He was also ordered to register as a Tier II Sex Offender.

Guernsey County Sheriff Jeffrey D. Paden said this investigation began in late 2023 and involved forensically reviewing multiple digital devices that contained countless illicit images and videos.
