Byesville Teens Face Child Endangering Charges
Two Byesville teenagers are facing child endangering charges after State Highway Patrol troopers seized marijuana from their vehicle with a baby on board.
The patrol said it happened around 1:30 Friday morning when troopers stopped a Ford Explorer for a traffic violation in Byesville. The 17-year-old male driver was arrested for OVI and further investigation revealed more than 350 grams of marijuana in seven different bags, worth an estimated $1,800. A bottle of brandy, a digital scale, rolling papers and a metal grinder were also discovered.
The driver was charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, both fifth-degree felonies. Both he and his 18-year-old female passenger were charged with child endangerment, because the driver’s infant son was inside the vehicle.
