ZANESVILLE, Ohio – One local kid is helping other kids by collecting toys throughout the year and handing them out at the hospital.

Caleb Silvia was inspired with the idea of a toy drive, because when he was younger he was sick with an autoimmune disorder. He spent some time at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and remembered the toy carts. This is the sixth year for the toy drive, Caleb has been collecting donations all throughout the year.

“I remember the toy cart from when I was there. When I was about six, we started taking toys up and it’s grown and grown into what it is today,” said Caleb.

Caleb said they collected 650 toys and were delivered to Genesis Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He has received a lot of positive feedback for his work in the community.

“We also collected pop tabs from Ronald McDonald House, and we’ll be making about a three thousand dollar donation to the Children’s Miracle Network in September,” he added.
