Calling all Writers

If you’re an aspiring writer here in the Y-city and are looking for ways to improve your works, the Y-city Writers may have the answer for you.

They’re holding their 4th Annual Writers Conference October 8 at Coburn United Methodist Church. The event serves as an opportunity to learn about the story telling craft, from how to write poems that tell a story to creating credible characters.

"We’re trying to give writers in our area the opportunity to learn new things that they may not have been able to learn on their own," explained Y-city Writers Co-founder Rita Smith. "It’s a chance to come together to have a network with each other."

This year the conference has two key note speakers, Bob Welsh, an author and inspirational speaker and Tiffany Colter, a writer for an E-magazine, in which she acts as a writing career coach. But, what about those hesitant to put pen to paper?

"You just need to start writing. You just can’t keep talking about," said Smith. "Don’t worry about your technique, don’t worry about anything. Just start putting your idea down on paper."

If you’re interested in attending the Y-city Writer’s conference the cost is $30 and includes breakfast and lunch if you’re preregistered.
