Carolyn Hughes retires with Abby Bash becoming the new Muskingum County Humane Society officer

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum County Humane Society Officer Carolyn Hughes has retired after working to protect animals since 2016.
A retirement celebration was held Friday to honor Hughes career, complete with a declaration from Zanesville Mayor Don Mason. Reflecting on her career and her next chapter, Hughes says it will be the animals and people she will miss most.
“I’ll probably miss seeing the animals, helping the animals but there’s always animals that need help so I can volunteer somewhere if I want to. And I’m going to miss the people I work with because I had so much help from the community, from all aspects of the community,” said Hughes.

Abby Bash is the new Muskingum County Humane Society officer which was formerly held by Carolyn Hughes.
Taking over the position of Muskingum County Humane Officer is Abby Bash who is excited to get to work and investigating animal abuse and neglect.
“Their big shoes to fill but it’s an honor to learn from her, for sure,” Bash said. “It’s an honor, I’ve always wanted to work professionally rescuing so now I get to live that dream. ”
