Carr Center Cake Auction approaching

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- One of the biggest cake auctions is quickly approaching.
The Carr Center’s 31st Annual Cake Auction is set for next month.
Kim Hosler, Executive Director of the Carr Center, said there is still time to register and show support for the local non-profit organization.
“It supports the center and I want people to always remember why we do it,” said Hosler. “We don’t take it for granted, we are grateful for every size cake, every little contribution, we are grateful; it’s all a gift to us.”
Hosler said the center is far-reaching in the community and this fundraiser supports the many programs that they support.
“With our programming we support kids that have speech therapy needs, we support seniors that have family caregivers that are helping them, or we’re trying to help people to live independently at home and so we’re giving them food and medical care. We served 95 people last year just in the art basic intrinsic programs, let alone we do safety-town for 140 kids [and] we do special writers for 20 kids,” she said.
Currently there are just around 170 cakes registered. They hope to reach 400 total cakes, a number they almost reached last year.
However something they don’t have for this year is an expectation for funds raised.
“We do not have a goal. This is always a gift to us. We’ve had years where its less, we’ve had years where it’s more, it really isn’t a reflection in terms of whether the auction is successful or not. We appreciate every dollar that comes to the Carr Center,” said Hosler.
The deadline to register is one week before the auction, April 21st. The event will be held from April 26th through April 28th at the Colony Square Mall.
