Carr Center Gears up for 39th Annual Cake Auction

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local organization is gearing up for their biggest fundraiser of the year.

The Carr Center’s 39th Annual Cake Auction is set to happen on April 23rd and 24th at the Colony Square Mall.

Katie Graham, the Executive Director of the Carr Center, said the planning process for the Cake Auction starts in November and is full steam ahead until the big day.

She said this year’s theme is “Cake is The Word” and is excited to see what the bakers come up with.

“So think like “Grease is the Word”, think poodle skirts kind of thing,” Graham said. “I think the bakers really love a solid theme so they know what to do. I think they kind of struggled last year with “The Tradition Continues” kind of thing, so they know it’s like sock hop, records, kind of thing, so we’re excited.”

Graham said all of the proceeds from the Cake Auction will be headed back to the Carr Center to help fund their many programs.

She also said the Carr Center is looking to achieve a major milestone with this year’s auction.

“This year could potentially be a really big year because, if all goes well and we receive the funds that we think we will,” Graham explained. “We’re going to reach $5 Million. It’s kind of mind blowing that our community has been so gracious, so $5 Million raised.”
