Carr Center Partners with Local YMCA

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Safety Town is a childhood education program that has been offered by the Carr Center for decades.
Carr Center Executive Director Katie Graham announced a partnership with the Muskingum County Family YMCA to host the annual event at their recreation center.
“So Safety Town has been in our community for over 30 years,” Graham said. “It’s a program that helps 4-and-5-year-olds to learn safety in and out of the home. And we were kind of looking for a place to go, to grow, be a little bit safer, maybe a bigger space and I called Tyler and here we are.”
Muskingum County YMCA Executive Director Tyler McDade explained how the Y has partnered with the Carr Center in the past and is looking forward to sharing their facility to host the traditional event.
“When Katie reached out and was looking for a partnership,” McDade said. “It was a situation where some of their programming was outside, so you had potential inclement weather. You know, the size of the space wasn’t comparable to some of the facilities we have here, the gymnasium. Again, adding the component of safety around water and our pool, potentially is going to be a great addition as well. So yeah, it’s going to be a great opportunity to continue our partnership.”
Safety Town is held each summer via three, 1-week sessions that will take place during the months of June, July and August. For more information, you can visit the Carr Center’s website or call them at (740) 453-5417.
