Celebrate Recovery
Zanesville, OH- A free, weekly recovery program is offering hope, healing and a safe space for anyone struggling with life’s hardest battles.
Celebrate Recovery at North Terrace Church of Christ on Monday evenings covers every struggle from addiction and anger to low self-esteem and broken relationships. It starts off with food and fellowship at 5:30pm, followed by a large group session at 6:30 and open share groups at 7:30pm. Childcare is provided, so parents can attend without worry.
“We want people to walk through our door and feel welcomed every day, you know we’re part of this, you know who ain’t broken in some ways out there right now, so it’s this let it all down, let your barriers down, and walk through our doors and feel loved, and we’re there to help you,” explained Senior Ministry Leader Danny Harper. “I encourage everybody to come by, check it out, you know just come once, see is it for you, it may not be for you, but you know what, we can build relationships through that and really see I’m not alone through this battle,”
The group also offers an al-anon open share group for those impacted by someone else’s addiction. Those involved said the groups have been life changing.
“My son and my mom both participate in the Al-Anon program here and it’s been life changing for them,” said Celebrate Recovery Participant Tasha Clark. “They’ve come with me to meetings before in the past, but that’s always all about me, it’s never about them, so it’s given them the opportunity to really open up about their struggles with my struggles, so it’s been amazing for them also,”
“The biggest lessons I’ve learned is that my past doesn’t define my future, and it’s very important to help one another as much as possible,” added Celebrate Recovery Participant Antonio Vaughn.
