Celebrating Arbor Day

There is a new addition to Putnam Hill Park thanks to a local skilled nursing facility.

In honor of Arbor Day the Apartments at Cedar Hill’s Activities Director Carol Coakwell said they are planting a tree in the park. She said this is the second year they’ve done this and are excited to bring new life to the community.

"Well we are really excited to be here on this beautiful day and two years ago we decided that it might be kind of fun to plant a tree like we did when we were kids," Coakwell said.

She said they with the help of the mayor, some other city officials, and the apartment company they were able to make it happen again this year.

"We’re excited to be able to contribute something nice to the community. Our company Zandex is very community minded and so it was quite easy to have them support us in this effort," Coakwell said.

They planted a Sterling Silver Linden tree that blossoms yellow in the spring and turn brilliant yellow in the fall. Coakwell said it’s really beautiful to look at and Cedar Hill hopes they can keep the new tradition going and donate a tree to the community every year.
