NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio- When you think of the fair you might think of fair foods, exhibits, and rides. But what may not come to mind is safety.
The Perry County Sheriff’s Office is using cellphone technology to ensure safety. The sheriff’s office encourages everyone to snap a “selife” of yourself and your child when you enter the fair. This current up to date photograph of you and your child will be instrumental in the event one of you goes missing.
“We can take that photo from their camera and transport it to our phones and disseminate that to all the deputies here that are working the fair grounds,” Sheriff William R. Barker said. “We’ve built a talk group together with all of our phones, so that we can instantly share that photograph and try to relocate the separated party.”
Now in the matter of moments the photo of the missing person will be sent to the deputies and children services investigator’s on site.
“Everybody now has a picture of someone to look for. We’ll just walk around to try to locate that person,” Sheriff Barker said.
The Perry County Fair has more than 1,000 attendees each day, which makes taking these photograph more crucial than ever.
