Center for Seniors Remaining Positive After Half-Mill Levy Gets Voted Down
The news was not as good for supporters of the Center for Seniors in Muskingum County and their half-mill levy. It went down to defeat Tuesday by around 400 votes.
The money raised would have built a new Senior Center near Zane State College on State Route 146. Executive Director Ann Combs told us they are still going to remain positive going forward.
“Naturally we’re disappointed but, of course, we’re going to keep on keeping on. It certainly isn’t the end for the center for seniors. We are going to continue to provide the services that we do every day and we want to continue to let seniors know that we’re still here. We’ll just devise another plan as far as our location and find a way to move forward.”
Combs said that the levy loss gives them time to re-group and make decisions regarding the future. She says the center remains a vital facility for seniors. Combs said if the public has any input, her door is always open to hearing suggestions.
