Center for Seniors Reopens Gradually

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Muskingum County Center for Seniors opened back its doors today, welcoming back senior citizens.
Today was the first of many activities that took place. However, the center isn’t fully operational. Currently, smaller groups of people are being welcomed back and will expand as time moves along.
“It’s so exciting, just to see people smile. It started with the red, white and blue drive-thru event that we had for the seniors. Just seeing the smiles on their faces and hearing them with the excitement of seeing their friends, colleagues and peers,” Center for Seniors interim executive director David Boyer said.
Seniors gathered and took part in line dancing today. The staff and especially the seniors were anxious to get back to the center and see their friends.
“I’m happy it’s going to be open. I’m just ready for square dancing too,” member Patty Yoder said.
“I’m glad it’s open because you can exercise and you’re not sitting around feeding your face at home. We go wherever the bands are every Friday or Saturday night and we come down here on Monday night for lessons with Carol and we have a great time,” member Mary Kay Kohler said.
In the short time Boyer has been the interim executive director, member Sharon Burckholter said that he has done so much for the members and that they are happy to have him.
Boyer said hopefully in a month or so, the center is fully operational.
