Ceramics Prove Unbreakable Against Clay

OHSAA Softball Tournament
Division IV District Semifinal — Minford HS
Crooksville 5 Portsmouth Clay 4
The Ceramics, seen by many as the underdog, proved to be the top dog at Minford High School on Thursday afternoon. After both teams battled to a 1-1 tie through 3 1/2 innings, the Panthers scored two runs on four Crooksville errors in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. It was 4-2 Panthers heading into the top of the sixth and that is when the Ceramics got down to business. Alee Davis and Madison Sprankle each hit bases loaded RBI singles to tie the game at four. Then, Ashley Alfman was walked on five pitches, allowing the Ceramics to take a 5-4 lead. Despite having runners on 2nd and 3rd with only one out in the bottom of the seventh, the Panthers couldn’t get a clutch hit when they needed it.
