ZANESVILLE, Ohio- For the chamber of commerce spring break is more than just a fun celebration.

The Zanesville Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce will be presenting awards to local businesses at their annual ‘Spring Break!’ meeting.

Chamber President, Dana Matz, said they will give out the Award for Community and Economic Success (ACES) as well as safety awards through the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for those businesses who have achieved high standards of safety in the workplace.

Matz said that over $42 million was invested by chamber member businesses in Muskingum County.

“With over 80 ACES awards being given out to our local businesses it shows that they are investing right here in our backyards in their businesses,” said Matz.

This shows an improved economy in Zanesville and the surrounding area according to him.

“Long term sustainability for those businesses means long term sustainability for employment and that is something we always strive for, is low unemployment numbers and the health of our community through the business and workforce,” said Matz.

Over 80 ACES awards will be presented as well as over 50 safety awards. The winners will be announced at the event on Friday, March 24th and will later be displayed on the chambers website the following week.
