Christ’s Table accepting and appreciates produce donations

Christs Table Produce

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – As the Summer kicks off tomorrow, produce season is here and Christ’s Table is looking for fruits and vegetables to be donated.

Christ’s Table Executive Director, Keely Warden said fresh produce tastes so much better compared to the canned veggies. Warden said she is hoping for a large amount of zucchinis, green peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes.

“Tis the season for produce and actually gardens are starting to produce just a little bit. I know we’ve had a lot of rain but the rain and the sun have been good for zucchini. So, we just want to remind everybody that fresh produce is so much better for those that we serve than what we are taking out of the can. As produce season hits we want to remind our community that we are here and we are willing to take that fresh produce and those that we serve truly love it,” Warden said.

Warden said whether you are a small farmer, a little backyard gardener, or a big time farmer, any amount of donations will mean a lot to Christ’s Table but more to the people that they serve.

Warden added “well, we always say that is fruits and products of their love. So, when they bring that food to us, they’re not only sharing that nutritional food, they’re sharing the love that it was planted with, the love it was harvested with and that is the cool thing about watching the backyard gardeners come in. It is the love in their eyes knowing they’re sharing it with people that don’t have access to something like that everyday.”
