Christ’s Table Serves Nearly 400 Christmas Meals
Christmas Day brings many family gatherings and cozy dinners around the dining room table, but for some, there may not be family to turn to or a warm meal to enjoy during the holiday.
Christ’s Table reached out to those in the community Christmas Day to change that. This is the 27th year for the meal and more than 45 volunteers started their day at 6:30AM Thursday morning to put it together. First year volunteer Matt Payton told us about his experience.
"It meant a lot to me because I’ve never really had an experience where I’ve come out on Christmas day, we’ve always done Christmas at the house with the family and stuff but it was kind of nice to come out and spread the holiday cheer and make an impact on someone and mean something to someone. So its a good experience."
When the guests left they got a special holiday treat at the door. We also spoke to Daniel Ray, who has been coming to Christ’s Table and helping recruit volunteers. He says, Christ’s Table has truly made an impact on his life.
"It just makes me glow inside. You know? It makes my heart happy…this is one of the many places that you can come and be comfortable, because there’s a lot of love here. Keely especially. She’s been a blessing to this place….they always make Christmas the most brightest day for a lot of people here that attend, especially mine."
Ray says he wouldn’t want to spend his Christmas anywhere else. Volunteers served nearly 400 people Thursday. That includes those served in the dinning room and through the home bound meals.
