City Of Zanesville Celebrates Employee Of 55 Years

The City of Zanesville celebrated the work anniversary of one of their employees Wednesday afternoon.

Mary E. Bush has been working for the city for 55 years. That makes her second in line for the longest city government career in the state of Ohio. The current longest career is 57 years. Bush worked as the purchasing coordinator for the city. We had the chance to speak with her, and she told us how she was feeling looking back on her career.

“After 55 years there’s no doubt in your mind that I have enjoyed it and still enjoying.” said Bush.

Bush says she has worked for almost all of the offices and thanks them for all of her different opportunities. Bush says she appreciated all of the mentoring she received from others that allowed different doors to open for her. Mayor Jeff Tilton had nothing but positive things to say about her time with the city.

“She’s just a great asset to the city….over the last four years shes been just a great help to me and made it easier for me to do my job.”

Bush says if you want to have a long running career somewhere, it takes dedication and working toward goals for yourself. Bush says she has no plans of retiring any time soon. She enjoys boating, fishing, working around properties and motorcycling in her free time.
