Coca-Cola donates 792 Pairs of Socks to Salvation Army for Homeless

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Zanesville Coca-Cola held a sock drive to collect socks for the local Salvation Army.
Through the month of April, Coca-Cola employees brought in adult and children socks which would go towards the homeless shelter at the Salvation Army.
“There’s always a need for socks and we wanted to help out, and this is my area growing up. I thought this was a good idea… Sometimes you don’t get a lot but this time they really stepped up, our employees stepped up,” Coca-Cola Office Coordinator Peg Kinder said.
Today, the Salvation Army was greeted with Coca-Cola staff and its mascot, the polar bear. 792 socks were collected. Coca-Cola also donated $500 to the Salvation Army.
“If you imagine being homeless, we don’t think about it on a rainy day and your feet get wet. They may not have a washer or dryer, so a new pair of socks, to put on a dry pair of socks just to have dry feet, that’s important. Again, it’s because of people in our community,” Salvation Army Envoy/Manager George Bates said.
The Salvation Army relies a lot on community partnerships and help. Bates added that the organization is thankful for all its partnerships, especially Coca-Cola for their donations.
