Coconis Furniture and Local Hospitals Team Up to Offer Free Mammograms

ZANESVILLE, OH – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and local businesses are making it easier than ever to get a lifesaving screening.

Coconis Furniture has teamed up with three participating hospitals including Genesis Healthcare System, Ohio Health Southeastern Med, and Licking Memorial Health System to offer free mammogram screenings. These screenings are available for women who are uninsured, underinsured, or unable to afford the cost.

“I think we can really go over the top this year and give out 150 to 200 mammograms. We’d love to give out 300 mammograms. It’s basically for people that can’t afford it or people who don’t have insurance. Even if they have a copay, it’ll help cover their copay. It’s out of pocket nothing for anybody to get a free mammogram as long as they have one of our certificates,” President of Coconis Furniture Randy Coconis said.

Vouchers for the free mammograms can be picked up at Coconis Furniture or any of the three hospitals. Vouchers will be available until the end of October but can be used to schedule a screening at any of the participating hospitals through the end of the year.

“It saves lives. I think we all know someone that has been saved, or someone that maybe could’ve been saved if they went early enough and got detected. It’s vital that you get checked and saved,” Coconis said.

For the past eight years, Coconis Furniture has been committed to this cause, providing over 500 free mammograms to women in the community.

Coconis Furniture is located at 4 S. Maysville Avenue in South Zanesville.
