Comedian Joan River Dies

Joan Rivers has died.

Her daughter Melissa released a statement saying Rivers passed away peacefully at 1:17 pm eastern time Thursday at  Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York.

She was surrounded by family and close friends.

The comedian was hospitalized last week after suffering a heart attack during a routine procedure in a Manhattan doctor’s office.

Joan Rivers was 81.
