Committee To Revitalize Areas in Zville

Renovations will be made to some areas of Zanesville thanks to the efforts of a city council committee…

The Community Development Committee met Monday afternoon to discuss where funds will be spent to make improvements in Zanesville. City councilman Mark Baker said parts of the Moxahala Avenue area will be revitalized, and the committee wants feedback from residents.

"Often times, administration officials don’t have an exact idea of what the needs of the neighborhood are, it’s the neighborhood and the residents there themselves that are best equipped to tell us and the administration where to channel those funds and our energies," said Baker.

Another project on the committee’s agenda is renovations to Secrest Auditorium. Baker said new lighting and flooring are the priorities.

"So with the reforms that are going on, with price structure, with, you know, the way tickets are sold, and some other things, I think that the outlook is very optimistic for the auditorium… And I’m very glad to see that."

The renovations to Secrest will begin in early July.
