Community Bank to Host Annual Shred Day Event

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local organization is giving people a chance to get a jump on their spring cleaning.

This Saturday, April 19th, from 9AM until 12pm Community Bank will be hosting their annual Shred Day Drive-Thru event in conjunction with Muskingum Iron and Metal.

Eric Holsky, the president and CEO of Community Bank, said with tax season also coming to a close for the year, now is the perfect time to declutter some old papers, documents and even some old electronics.

“We encourage people, number one, to obviously clean out some of these documents because of fraud and other things, plus it makes room in your house,” Holsky said. “The other thing we started doing a few years ago is electronics, so we take pretty much anything except monitors or computer screens. We’ll take DVR’s, we’ll take cell phones even, computer towers, laptops, all that stuff.”

Holsky said they will take up to 5 boxes of unwanted documents or electronics and the best part is you don’t even have to get out of your vehicle.

He said you can stay in your car as staff work to unload and destroy your old papers.

“Just some numbers, since the Pandemic, we’re averaging about 8 and a half tons of paper on that particular day and almost 6 tons of electronics,” Holsky said. “The other thing about the paper is, we shred it on site. We have the trucks here so that customer can be assured that their papers or their documents are shredded right at the time.”

The Drive-Thru Shred Day event is free and open to the public.

It will take place at the Downtown Zanesville Branch, located at 113 North 5th St.
