Community Celebrates National Day of Prayer

Community members and local churches participated in a day of prayer Thursday evening.

This is the 20th year of the event where members of the community gather to use the power of prayer to help get our community praying once again.

“We need to strike a match for prayer again for people believing in prayer again,” said Pastor Joseph DiVincenco of New Hope Full Gospel Church. “We always want to do this and hope that it will happen, and people will come and be stirred to pray once again.”

Pastor DiVincenco believes that events like this will help bring us together and strengthen not only this community, but the country as a whole.

“I believe the community is divided, we are just divided, denominations, all sorts of different things. We are just praying that those walls fall down so that the community can come together and be blessed by God and even be an example to the United States. I believe it can happen if we would come together and pray.”

The National Day of Prayer was officially established as the first Thursday in May.  The local event took place at Zanesville High School at 7:00 p.m.
