Community Pancake Day Serves Up Stacks of Fun

ZANESVILLE, OH – The smell of pancakes and the sound of community cheer was in the air in downtown Zanesville.
Secrest Auditorium was full of hot pancakes and warm hearts for the annual Community Pancake Day. The day began with the excitement of local residents gathering for the all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage meal. As the fresh pancakes stacked up, so did the community cheer.
“I like the whole community spirit. People just seem to be happy to be here. Everybody seems to enjoy it. It’s very easy to come and enjoy too. They have it very well organized,” Rick Bunner, a pancake day attendee said.
Pancake Day is more than just a feast of pancakes and sausage, it’s a way to support the South Zanesville Fire Department and the Working Wonder Women charities in Muskingum County. This annual event has proven to be the perfect recipe for strengthening community ties.
“It’s an opportunity for everybody to come together to support charitable causes. We have so many things that divide us, but in this case, we have an event that brings us all together and that is helping all these organizations that make our community a better community,” Zanesville City Mayor, Donald Mason said.
For many families in the area, Pancake Day is a cherished tradition, a time to connect with neighbors, and create new memories. It’s a place for old friends to reunite, and new ones to meet over stacks of pancakes.
“See families come together and actually sit down and enjoy a meal together. Everybody’s busy these days and they don’t get to do that at home. They can come here as a tradition and enjoy each other company and fellowship,” South Zanesville Fire Chief, Russel Taylor said.
“We come every year to Pancake Day. We meet a lot of great people. People we don’t see all the time through the year, but they end up here. Great event,” Pancake Day Attendee, Elvin Culp Jr. said.
Community Pancake Day is set to return next year, ready to serve up more pancakes, smiles, and lifelong memories.
