Community Pancake Day Serves Up a Sweet Success
ZANESVILLE, OH – On November 20th, downtown Zanesville was filled with stacks of fun, food, and fellowship during the annual Community Pancake Day.
The smell of pancakes and the sound of laughter filled the Secrest Auditorium as locals gathered for the all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage feast. Families and friends sat together, enjoying plate after plate of pancakes while reconnecting with neighbors. For many, it’s a cherished tradition.
“People love pancakes, people love sausage, and people love getting together to talk and see old friends. I think that’s what makes this a great day in Zanesville,” South Zanesville Fire Chief Russell Taylor said. “I love seeing everybody every year. Seeing old fire guys and new fire guys. Seeing the moms, pops, and kids come together to sit down and talk like they did years ago at the table to have breakfast together. They can do that here.”
This annual tradition isn’t just about syrup and sausage, it’s a way to support the South Zanesville Fire Department and the Working Wonder Women charities here in Muskingum County.
“It’s the holiday season. Everybody’s in need. This is a way for us to give back to those people who are in need by raising money here today,” Chief Taylor said. “The city of Zanesville and Muskingum County is a place like no other. They come together, they help people, they share and just give, give, give.”
Pancake day wrapped up around 7 P.M. with full stomachs and even fuller hearts. The event continues next year, promising more pancakes, smiles, and community connections.
