Community Prepares for “Dude, Be Kind” Week 2025
ZANESVILLE, OH – Muskingum County Commissioners met today to proclaim February 9th through the 15th as “Dude, Be Kind” Week.
“Dude, Be Kind” Week is a week to promote grateful acts of service to everyone in our community.
Kim Tatman, the Communications Coordinator for Mid-East, said this week truly serves as a reminder of how important it is to be kind to one another.
“Kindness is a 2 way street, meaning that when you do an act of kindness for someone, that person feels the love and feels the warmth that comes from that,” Tatman explained. “But then the person giving the kindness also feels that as well. What our hope is, even though kindness is a commonsensical thing, it should happen every day. We’re hoping that by focusing on it for one week, allowing people to feel those awesome feelings of kindness, they’ll want to continue that for the rest of the year.”
Tatman said in addition to the Muskingum County Commissioners proclaiming “Dude, Be Kind” Week, she’s received proclamations from Guernsey, Noble, and Perry Counties as well as one from Congressman Troy Balderson.
She said this week’s important to celebrate because even small acts of kindness and love can change the world.
“Sometimes when the world feels a little ominous, you feel kike you can’t make a difference and I think with our community, our small communities here in the Midwest, we can make a difference in where we live,” Tatman said. “So when our students see the communities grabbing ahold of this and doing things and supporting them, it makes them realize that their ripple can grow and really make a difference, not just for their school but all the schools that are around them.”
Here are the themes for each day of “Dude, Be Kind” Week:
