Community Steps Out for March for Inclusion

ZANESVILLE, OH – A simple walk carried a powerful message today as Muskingum County came together for the March of Inclusion.
The Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities, along with community members and supporters, marched from 4th Street to the Muskingum County Courthouse. The walk was held in celebration of Developmental Disability Awareness Month and focused on promoting inclusion, acceptance, and equal opportunities.
“We want to let everyone know that people with disabilities are just like everyone else. We’re all the same. We all want to be included in our community, we all want access to education, and we all want employment that matters. That’s really what the march is about.” Jenna Conaway, Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities Outreach and Communications, said.
Participants carried signs and shared encouraging messages, all while raising awareness about the abilities and contributions of individuals with developmental disabilities.
“I hope that we can raise awareness, let people get to know us, and let them hear our voices that we have.” Alyson Peairs President of Muskingum County People First Advocacy Group, said.
This marks the third year for the March of Inclusion. Developmental Disability Awareness Month continues throughout March.
