Conley Sentencing Today

A man who plead guilty in the shooting of a Zanesville Police Officer and his K-9 learns his sentence Monday.

Dominick Conley goes before Judge Mark Fleegle at 10a.m. Conley entered a guilty plea last month in the shooting of Officer Mike Schiele and his K-9 Bosco.

Prosecutor Mike Haddox said Conley entered the plea to felonious assault on a peace officer, assault on a police dog as well as several kidnapping charges and recommended to the court he receive a 25 year sentence for the crimes.

Police said Conley shot Officer Schiele and Bosco in August 2009 when the officer was trying to serve an arrest warrant on Conley.

Conley then carjacked a woman and went to a family members home where he held multiple people hostage before fleeing to Canton.

He was originally facing 47 years in prison.
