ZANESVILLE, Ohio – In the African nation of Zambia, clean drinking water can be a daily struggle. That’s why a Coshocton-based non-profit is doing everything they can to change that.

Born and Angela Sianjina founded The Matthew 712 Project in 2022. Born and grew up in Zambia, where having to drink dirty river water affected his health, his ability to attend school, and the health of the surrounding community.

“The driving force really is me growing up in that enviroment. And both she and I wanted to give back to those communities because they are, you know, like it or not, they are people just like everyone else except that they don’t have the resources to impliment clean water access point,” Born said.

The main fundraiser for the Matthew 712 Project is their golf outing which takes place on May 9. All of the proceeds raised go directly to drilling water wells and installing Ohio-manufactured hand pumps to provide communities with clean drinking water.

“Team registrations we have closed at this time just because we’re so close. If someones interested in a team, on our website as well, there’s contact information and they can reach out to myself or Born. And we would be willing to speak with them, see if we have room,” Angela said. “Sponsorships that are still available are on-course game sponsors and tee sponsors and they can do that directly from our website and it will take them directly to our donation platform.”

You can sponsor the golf outing, donate to the organization, or learn more about their by visiting their website at TheMatthew712Project.org.
