Countdown to the 71st Annual Perry County Fair

PERRY COUNTY, OH – The countdown to the 71st annual Perry County Fair is on.
The Fair will kick off on Monday, July 15th and wrap up on July 20th.
Jessica Rockey, an Educator in 4 H Youth Development with the Perry County OSU Extension Office, says they have been busy at work getting the little details ironed out.
She also gave some details of what Fair Week will look like this year.
“The week kicks off with everybody getting checked in, weighed in, and stalled. We start with some livestock shows even on that first Monday.” Rockey said. “But I say the highlight of Monday is our 4 H recognition event that evening followed by the crowning of our Fair Queen and King.”
Rockey says some other events worth checking out at this year’s fair are the calf scramble and the Showman of Showman Contest.
She says the thing they are most excited for is the grand opening of the newly built show arena.
“Our fairgrounds has been in the process, since about this time last year, building a new building that wil house our show arenas.” Rockey said. “That gives us both more space to stall animals in other buildings, where we had squeezed in some show arena space. We’re excited to kind of check out that new building and see how our shows can lay out and have more space for animals and spectators.”
The Perry County Fair will be live streaming the Live Stock shows throughout the week.
