County Home Working Toward CON Certification
The administrator of the Muskingum County Home told the Muskingum County Commissioners Thursday they are moving toward CON certification.
CON stands for certifcation of need for beds.
“It is a two part step to become certified. First you have to obtain a CON application that says yes you meet the standards and have beds that can operate as a nursing home, then once that is complete it is given to Ohio Department of Health and you can request for them to come in and complete a licensure and certification survey,” says Administrator of Muskingum County Home, Sarah Somers.
Certification will bring more jobs to the county home. The certification is now in the hands of the Ohio Department of Health and they will make a decision in the coming weeks. Also, the county commissioners commended the home on how quickly and efficiently they evacuated after a bomb scare Monday.
“It seems like when it happened everybody remained calm and they had been well-trained on the procedure for evacuation so it was business as usual come Tuesday morning,” says Somers.
Somers says the Sheriff is still investigating the bomb scare.
