County Receives Revenue from Timber Sales
Muskingum County, a local school district, and two townships received revenue from state forest timber sales Monday.
Forestry Manager at David Glass presented the Muskingum County Commissioners with $18,881 which Commissioner Jerry Lavy said will go directly to the General Fund and benefit county projects and initiatives.
“We’ll earmark it for whatever project or we have a special project,” said Lavy. “Now is the time of the year when a few agencies are going to be short on some funds and so it’ll be put into the County General Fund. ”
Lavy said the state earned over 3 million total in timber revenue and Muskingum County benefits from Blue Rock State Forest. He said that keeping the growing population under control at the state park and gaining funds is always a good thing for the county.
“Anytime you receive any type of funding it’s always valuable to us because we’ll put it to good use,” said Lavy.
The Franklin Local School District will be granted over $37,000. Blue Rock Twp. will receive over $800 and Salt Creek Twp. will get over $18,000.
