Crooksville Police Chief Retires

21 7 10 Crooksville Chief Of Police Retirement Party

CROOKSVILLE, Ohio- The Crooksville Police Department held a surprise party at Village Park in Crooksville Saturday for their current police chief who is retiring after 37 years of service.

Rodney Walters has been with the Crooksville Police Department for 37 years and is retiring after having served as the Police Chief. Walters had a very humanitarian approach to law enforcement and saw his job as not to punish people but to make the community’s life easier.

“Being able to do stuff to make people’s life a little better if you could… There’s a certain amount of law enforcement that you need, but you don’t have to make everybody miserable while you’re doing it,” Rodney Walters, retiring Police Chief of the Crooksville Police Department stated.

With retirement comes free time. Walters is excited for his golden years and even has some exciting plans to occupy his time.

“Going to car shows with a ‘69 Plymouth. We got a ‘69 Plymouth, with the bubblegum machines and all the old time equipment in it. And we’re really looking forward to that,” Walters said.

The upcoming Crooksville Police Chief, Bruce Alexander, commented on him having big shoes to fill but is excited to take on the job and continue Walter’s legacy.
