Crooksville, Rosecrans Football Find Success with Passing Scrimmage

CROOKSVILLE, OH

It might be early July and it might be 90 degrees out, but that wasn’t going to stop Crooksville from hosting yet another four-team passing scrimmage at Ceramic Stadium. Now, much like last year, Rosecrans, Monroe Central, and Waterford joined Crooksville for its now annual passing scrimmage where every team played each other twice as the offense and defense got to take the field. Coaches got to coach and players got to play as all teams had a great opportunity to play against other teams who were also working out the kinks over the summer.

With a talented, yet young quarterback for Crooksville, these sessions provided a great opportunity for one Brayson Hill to get his reps in with great attitude and energy, something that his head coach continues to preach to his young team.

“There’s going to be mistakes. There’s going to be tons and tons of mistakes, and I tell the guys that. You’re going to come out here, they’re going to score a deep ball on a touchdown. They’re going to drive the field and score a touchdown. We’re going to throw a ball to an open receiver and he’s going to drop it. We’re going to make a bad read and get picked.” said Crooksville head coach Gage Lotozo. “That’s going to happen. The thing we have to see at this point is energy and working through those mistakes, better attitude.”

Hill added, “Just stay positive, just bring everybody up. We got some young guys coming up, a bunch of young guys coming up to fill positions, that linebackers and just, we got to stay positive.”

Lotozo continued, “It’s just about getting reps, man. It’s just about all four of our programs are, you know, we’re either established or we’re building. We’re trying to do…we just want to see action versus somebody else. So it kind of is actually kind of laid back. You know, if the coach wants to stop and teach and do. Like I said, we’re competing, but we’re also, you know, us four coaches really want to make sure our guys are getting better”
